Homeless Voice

On December 19, 2009, we had the opportunity to visit people of the Homeless Voice and share Christmas gifts with them. The Homeless Voice is an organization that provides care to homeless individuals who suffer from mental disabilities. This organization provides meals, clothes, and medical care - just a few of the comforts most of us take for granted.

Our event coordinator Janine Sclafini contacted each of us and made sure we had more than enough presents and supplies, including a beautiful Christmas tree. Our group was small, yet very effective. In addition to our coordinator Janine, in attendance were: Silvina De Pietro, Alejandra Leon, Crystal Taylor, Jimmy Kniffin and Kayla Bramnick.

Our purpose was to bring a little holiday cheer to these people who lack in so many areas. We had a blast. The Christmas tree we decorated looked just like the ones in fancy department stores. Some of the people at the home joined us in putting up the ornaments. We placed the wrapped presents under the tree and handed out clothes and supplies to the people. The smiles, singing, and love they showed us was more than enough of a reward.

I personally enjoyed this event, and hope that we will have the opportunity to visit them in the future.
