Honors Student Committee

The nursing home program of the Honors Student Committee is called “Entertaining You!” founded by Eddie Mercer, a former honors student. Eddie and his mom Pier Mercer realized the power and profound effect that music, entertaining and interaction with others have on people in many difficult situations by uplifting them. The reward of giving in this manner is great! and we would be glad if you join this stimulating experience.

The second and third Friday of every month we entertain children and the elderly that are residents of the nursing homes. Each event lasts only 30 minutes and we go to two places the same day, but you choose where to go. HSC volunteers in this program with musicians, singers, dancers and poets in our informal visits and we are not restricted to just music, volunteers are also needed for other tasks such as pet therapy (pets provided) and nurturing residents.
