Welcome to Honors Students Committee!

The Honors Student Committee (HSC) is an organization that seeks to enhance the leadership, service, and learning experiences of every student. Our goal is to have each student maximize their experience, and minimize their excuses. Here at HSC, we believe that every student can become a leader. Therefore, our organization does not have a hierarchy; we operate laterally where every member has equal status and is given opportunity to engage in leadership.

This allows the conversation to become a zero-sum game, with a winner and a loser. But the reality is, when we let conversations take on this tenor – especially at the office – everyone looks bad, and everyone loses. The real enemy is not your conversational counterpart, but the combat mentality itself. And you can defeat it, with strategy and skill.

Annual Leadership Retreat

The Pillars at New River Sound, Fort Lauderdale, FLAfter a year of hard work and numerous accomplishments, the Honors Student Committee spent a relaxing getaway in a landmark luxury hotel in Fort Lauderdale. From June 1st to 3rd, HSC held its inaugural Leadership Retreat at The Pillars at New River Sound. We hope to continue this as an annual event.

The primary purpose of the leadership retreat was to show our leaders of HSC how much they are appreciated. Our leaders were provided various seminars to help them improve their leadership skills. There were many opportunities for in-depth discussions; small group sessions; and significant fellowship time with transfer/graduating students, as well as leaders from the BC Foundation, Honors Institute and Nova Southeastern University.
